- Disable blocker for all pages.
And the second way is to disable the blocker through add-on settings. This approach is more convenient when the AdBlock icon is not displayed on the Firefox taskbar. To do this, you need to go to the add-ons settings by clicking on the menu icon (1), and select the “Add-ons” item there.
Now you need to open the extensions window by clicking on the mosaic button (1) and click the "Disable" button next to the AdBlock extension.
The standard Microsoft Edge web browser for Windows 10 also supports the installation of extensions, including the AdBlock ad blocker that we are considering. If necessary, it can be easily disabled for all or any arbitrary site.

In the small section describing the expansion options that will be opened in the browser, turn the switch opposite the item to inactive “Turn on to use”.
Disable if there is no shortcut on the toolbar
As you may have noticed, in the extension menu, opened by left-clicking on its icon, you can disable the display of the latter. If AdBlock was hidden from the control panel, to deactivate it, you will need to access the web browser settings directly.
- Open the Microsoft Edge menu by clicking LMB on the three dots in its upper right corner and select "Extensions".
In the list of installed add-ons, find AdBlock (most often, it is the first in the list) and disable it by moving the toggle switch to an inactive position.

How to disable Adblock plugin in Chrome
To begin with, we suggest looking at the disconnection process in the most popular browser today - Google Chrome! Well, we will not pull, immediately to the point:
1. Open the menu by clicking on the button on the right side (located at the very top),
2. Click on “Settings”, after which the settings page opens, but we don’t need it - we move on,
3. Switch from the settings to “Extensions”, after which a page with all the additions opens,
4. Uncheck the box next to “Enable”,
5. Done! Now Adblock does not prevent your favorite site from displaying normally!
Principle of operation and reasons for disconnecting Adblock
An extension called Adblock, created on the basis of Gecko and Trident web page output engines, is designed to disable and block downloading from the Web advertising banners and other information unnecessary to the user.
Popularity is ensured by its support by dozens of different browsers - from the outdated Internet Explorer to modern Microsoft Edge.
Among the features of the plugin are:
- response to ads on any page and in search results,
- simple inclusion and use,
- support for work on mobile devices (including gadgets on Android and iOS).
Fig. 2. One of the versions of the extension for a mobile phone.
The plug-in's tasks include blocking http-requests in accordance with the addresses of their sources - using the utility you can hide a banner with ads, an image, a script, Java and Flash objects.
Sometimes it prevents the very process of loading a page element, saving traffic and user time.
And yet, sometimes you have to disable the extension - temporarily or permanently, but for certain sites and browsers.
The main reason for refusing ad blocking is the effect of the plugin on the ad unit view counter used by site owners and advertisers.
Advertising does not load, the number of views does not grow, the income of the owner of the web page is falling.
Fig. 3. One of the popular resources with and without ads
Of course, no one is obligated to allow other network users to earn on ad units - especially if they annoy, close the main text and impose completely unnecessary goods and services.
But many resources, especially informational ones, receive income only from this advertisement.
Fig. 4. An example of a message requesting to disable an ad blocker.
Despite the fact that the browser extension is designed to save traffic and reduce the load on the processor and RAM, sometimes it works the other way around.
Stopping loading ad units, the plugin spends a small amount of RAM for each block (for example, in the Mozilla browser, 4 megabytes are allocated for this).
If there is little advertising on the resource, the extension has practically no effect on its memory.
However, dozens of such blocks (frames) on each page opened in a web browser already occupy hundreds of megabytes and can slow down the work of a not too powerful computer.
Fig. 5. The amount of memory that is spent on loading the site and blocking advertising.
Incorrect data display
Blocking ads can lead to another negative effect.
Empty frames remain in the place of deleted frames, and the page looks unattractive and unusual.
If in place of such a blocked banner there was regular contextual advertising, its presence may be more appropriate than free space.

Disabling the plugin on the site
One way to resume showing ads and other blocked information is to disable blocking on several specific sites.
For example, those that block access to all Adblock users.
It will take no more than a couple of minutes to disconnect:
- A browser opens, with which the site will be viewed,
- The transition to the resource
- The blocker plugin opens (its icon can be located on one of the panels of the web browser, and in the settings),
- After the drop-down menu appears on the screen, an inscription such as “Enabled on this site”, “Do not start on this page” or “Do not start on this domain” is pressed,
Fig. 7. Disabling ads on the page of a specific site or entire domain.
- All ads on the selected web page will not be filtered and blocked by the extension.
When it becomes necessary to hide the advertisement again, the same actions are performed.
Only now the plugin is already included for a specific site.
Ads on other web pages still remain blocked.
Disabling in browsers
If the user does not have the time or the ability to restore advertising on a specific site or domain, it is worth considering the possibility of completely removing the Adblock extension.
If you don’t want to resolve intrusive or inappropriate and even annoying ad units, can be done as follows:
- disable the blocker (or delete) in the browser, with which the pages with ads will be viewed,
- in the browser that will be used to view information without ad units, leave Adblock.
For example, to get acquainted with a popular information resource, you can use Opera, which is unprotected from advertising, and turn on Chrome for fast Internet surfing on different sites.
In Internet Explorer
In the IE browser, outdated, but still working on many old PCs, to stop the operation of any extension, including the extension, you should click on the gear icon and select the add-on settings item.
After that, a line with the name of the plugin is highlighted and the shutdown button is pressed at the bottom of the panel.

Apple Safari Plugin
An extension to combat advertising is also among the browser plug-ins for MacOS - Safari.
Removing it is as easy as using Windows web browsers:
- The settings menu opens,
- The extension item is selected,
- The plugin is located and the “Off” button is pressed.
You can completely remove the extension using the delete button.
After that, the blocker is completely removed from the browser.
The banner is an object (Flash or Java), and I do not have a context menu. Now what?
Adblock Plus has the "Show shortcuts to Flash and Java" feature. When it is turned on (by default), it will show the "Block" button in the upper right corner (in the lower left, if there is not enough space) on each object. Clicking on this button will lock the object.
In addition, you can open the list of blocked elements (press Ctrl + Shift + V or click on the drop-down arrow next to the ABP icon in the toolbar and select "Open blockable items") and find the object there.
You can click on the column heading "Type" - this will sort the list by type, which will facilitate the search for objects.
The list of blocked objects shows a lot of different addresses. How do I know which one I need?
You can search for addresses whose beginning is different from the address of the page on which you are located. Banners also usually have keywords such as "banner" or "ad" in their address. Click on the address in order to make the corresponding element blink on the page (unfortunately, this does not work for all types of objects). If you are still not sure, use the mouse wheel to click on the address to open it in a new tab - there you will see for sure whether it is a banner.
Does the order of the filters affect performance?
Not. When Adblock Plus checks the address for the fact that it is in your filters, the extension itself chooses the best order in which the filters will be tested. Most filters will not even be noticed. The order of the filters in the settings dialog is present only for your convenience, and it does not affect performance.
Are regular expressions faster than "normal" filters?
Usually not. Adblock Plus changes any "normal" filter into a regular expression, and inside the extension works only with regular expressions, regardless of the banner and / banner / filters.
Regular expressions are also often used to “compress” a filter list and replace some filters with a single regular expression. As a rule, fewer filters are always better, but in this case it is not always true. Complex regular expressions take too much time to evaluate, and it may be faster to use a few simple expressions.
At the same time, regular expressions give you more options, in which case their use is justified. For example, the regular expression / adv (?! Ice) / will block adv and advert and advertisement, but not advice - this cannot be done with ordinary substitutes.
